Become a VSY Member Today:

What Will You Do?

  • Help plan and execute fundraising events such as our carnivals and camps

  • Volunteer at various events and volunteer facilities

  • Give back to the community in creative and craftful ways

  • Gain opportunities to be a guest speaker for Vedic Samaj Youth

  • Accumulate volunteer hours to qualify for community service awards at your high school or a national level

Eligibility:

  • Any middle or high school student

  • Available Sundays over zoom for meetings

  • Be able to commute to Basking Ridge, NJ or Warren, NJ for events

How Do Hours Work?

In the past, multiple VSY members have earned the Gold Community Service Award at Ridge High School, or have used their hours for nomination into various honors societies.

Vedic Samaj Youth's initiatives are approved by Ridge High School.

You can receive hours by doing the following work: 

  • Attending weekly meetings and actively participating

  • Attendance in fundraising/volunteering events

  • Amount of time spent outside of meetings to work on VSY (ex. creating flyers, google forms, organization, marketing, volunteering at events, etc.)

Benefits of Joining

  • Networking with students to get advice on anything

  • Develop leadership skills by gaining the opportunity to lead your own event

  • Hearing from talented guest speaker, or become a guest speaker yourself

  • Opportunities to visit new places to volunteer (and make new friends!)

  • Can be given recommendation letters upon request

  • Developing a passion to giving back to the community

  • Executive positions coming Spring 2025

Executive Position Qualifications:

  • Must be in high school

  • Must have been a well-performing VSY member for 2 months (with near perfect meeting attendance)

  • Must be local to Somerset County
